Any title by Jane Austen
Description
In this month members each read a title of their choice by Jane Austen in celebration of 250 years since her birth. Take your pick from: Sense and Sensibility | Pride and Prejudice | Mansfield Park | Emma | Northanger Abbey | Persuasion | or one of her unfinished novels or the novella.
Sense and Sensibility: follow the Dashwood sisters – sensible Elinor and emotional Marianne – as they navigate the complexities of love, financial insecurity, and social expectations in 19th-century England.
Pride and Prejudice: the story of the Bennet family, a family of five daughters whose mother is intent on marrying them off to wealthy men to secure their future.
Mansfield Park: timid Fanny Price is sent to live with her wealthy but morally questionable relatives.
Emma: a rich, beautiful and spoiled young woman loves to play matchmaker in the village of Highbury.
Northanger Abbey: naive, Gothic-novel-obsessed Catherine Morland must learn to distinguish reality from her overactive imagination.
Persuasion: the story of Anne Elliot, who, at 27, gets a second chance at love with Captain Frederick Wentworth, the man she was persuaded to reject years earlier due to his lack of wealth and status.
