Wine, Words & Chords
In the first of what is hoped to be a rolling programme of cultural events with local interest, St Mary the Virgin Church was the setting for Wine, Words & Chords, on Thursday 24 February 2022.
The evening included poetry and prose readings from Amanda Read, Mike Clark and Dr Steve Williams, with Nick Goodall tinkling the ivories. Signed copies of Amanda’s novel, Lost & Waiting, were also available to purchase. The event was hosted by Chris Bennett.
With especial thanks to Lee Jane Hawkes for making it happen, and to Marje and Al Caie for their enduring efforts on behalf of the community.
While listening to the readings and music, the audience enjoyed wine and an array of snacks. The evening was summed up by Sue’s News (The Bugle) as ‘simply a delight’.

A thoroughly enjoyable and lovely evening, thank you all to those who attended on the night, without you we wouldn’t be able to hold these events. Also, to those who helped us on the night, they know who they are. A special thank you to Amanda (Read), without you the evening wouldn’t have been possible.
