The theme: Ring out the old, ring in the new

Winner: Alastair McKee

Runners-up: Lee Jane Hawkes, Mike Clark, Paul Hawkes

The judge’s comments

This month, our photographers were inspired by the stunning skies over Burton as well as a perennial sight to be found across the Cotswolds, that of the dry stone wall.

Alastair’s photograph of St Mary’s bell tower against a new dawn captured the essence of the month’s theme.

Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara

In the runners-up, Mike’s photo of new coping on an old stone wall has great character. Then we have two cinematic views. One from Paul with a Burton on the Serengeti evening, and the other by Lee Jane and her sublime new dawn which evoked Scarlett O’Hara’s ‘As God is my witness’ speech.

What a great result for this competition! Congratulations to all the entries. It must have been a tough decision to choose between them!

Such a difficult choice, Sue. Stunning photos, all of them, but the winner managed to meet the brief and also make a great composition.
